Boosting reading proficiency

I have always had a hard time trying to read a particular text using as less time as possible, but I could never get the hang of it.Not succeeding in my intentions usually left me despondent about my future readings. In addition to having problems with reading fast, I could not concentrate on readings to get to know the context.
Surely enough, It did not occur to me at all to make use of simple strategies to succeed in it.
After reading the chapter 38 of my eng 103 textbook, I felt ahead in my reading. Having read the chapter enabled me to use the skimming strategy which allows me to be proficient in reading.
Moreover thanks to it, I feel that I became a fast reader.Annotation is another really helpful way for me to grasp the meaning of the text without spending too much time on it. To illustrate, I did not know that reading the first sentence of each paragraph would convey almost the whole context of the text.Identifying patterns and synonyms were really helpful for me to make my reading as effective as possible.
Meantime, I am working on finding a suitable text for my rhetorical analysis, and hopefully these strategies might come in handy for the assignment.
